797 - A connection to the remote computer could not be established because the modem was not found or was busy

The connection failed because the modem or another connecting device was not found.

Try the following:

Please make sure that the modem or connecting device is installed. Check that the modem cable and the modem power cord are securely attached to your computer and the phone jack.

The port may be in use by another device or another application, such as fax software or an Internet Service Provider. Please exit that program or restart Windows to free the port. If that doesn't work, reboot your system -- turn off your computer, wait a minute, then turn it back on again. Now try to re-connect.

If that doesn't work, and you feel confident in locating and modifying init strings in your computer, add the init string atz to your modem and reboot your computer.

If that doesn't work, remove the atz init string and refer to a qualified technician.
